1. What does this promotional CarePAK PLUS cost?
Any product included in the promotion is eligible to receive 13 months of coverage from the date of purchase. There is no additional cost to the customer.
2. When does the promotion start and end, and how can I get it?
Any product purchased from an Authorized Canon USA Reseller or from the Canon USA Direct Store between October 11th and February 27th is eligible.
3. What products are included in the promotion?

In addition, any lens included within a Kit with an eligible body will be covered. For example, if the customer purchases the EOS 5D Mark III EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM Lens kit, the lens will be covered since it is included in the box with the body (also known as a “hard bundle”). If the customer purchased the lens as a standalone purchase, it would not be covered. Similarly, if a Lens which is not on the eligible list for the promotion is purchased at the same time, but is not included in the box with the body, it would also not be covered.
4. What does this promotional CarePAK PLUS cover?
The coverage is the same as a purchased CarePAK PLUS plan. CarePAK PLUS offers enhanced protection, above the manufacturer's limited warranty. CarePAK PLUS covers a product for one incident of unintentional or accidental damage. In the event that a product requires service during its coverage period, CarePAK PLUS covers the cost of service, including Canon genuine parts and labor or a comparable Canon refurbished replacement at our discretion. Please refer to "What is Covered – General" in the Terms and Conditions for more details.
5. What is my registration number?
The registration number for the promotional CarePAK PLUS is the product’s serial number, which is located on the outside of the box and on the product. If you purchased a DSLR body that included an EF Lens, you will need to call 1-800-OK-CANON to receive a second registration number, as only the primary serial number is recognized, in this case, the DSLR Body.
6. Are there conditions or limitations on the promotional CarePAK PLUS?
The only requirements are that the product be purchased during the promotion dates, be included on the list of covered models, and be purchased from an Authorized Canon USA dealer or from the Canon Direct Website. Standard CarePAK PLUS limitations are applicable, which include: Abuse, misuse, and fraud. For more details, please refer to "What is Not Covered (General Exclusions)" in the Terms and Conditions. 7. How many times can I use my benefits?
There is no limit to the number of times, only to the maximum dollar value of the repair or repairs requested. For more details, please refer to "What is Not Covered (General Exclusions)" in the Terms and Conditions.
8. Can I purchase an extension to my free CarePAK PLUS?
Yes. All customers who register their promotional CarePAK PLUS at will receive a second email (to the email address used to register the CarePAK PLUS) with instructions and a unique personalized code for purchasing an upgrade to a full term (up to 3 years from date of purchase) CarePAK Plus plan. Each unique code can only be used once and must be redeemed before the 13-month coverage expires. This is 13 months from the original purchase date of the eligible product, not the date when the CarePAK PLUS was registered.
9. What is the coverage period of the promotional CarePAK PLUS?
The free CarePAK PLUS coverage begins on the date the product is purchased and remains in effect for 13 months. The coverage end date is printed on the Welcome/Registration confirmation letter, which is sent after the CarePAK PLUS is registered. Canon reserves the right to verify product and contract eligibility and may reject or modify the enrollment term if the product, coverage or original product purchase date is incorrect.
10. Do I need to register CarePAK PLUS after I purchase it?
Yes. After purchasing an eligible product, customers should go to the CarePAK PLUS Registration Link at and register their CarePAK PLUS plan by entering the hardware (camera or lens) serial number as their registration number. They must register their CarePAK PLUS in order to obtain service. Customers must keep a copy of their welcome letter (with registration number) and a copy of their hardware sales receipt; these 2 items will be required in order to obtain service. Customers will be directed to contact us at 1-800-OK-CANON (1-800-652-2666), if they have questions or need assistance with registration.
11. How do I obtain service or verify coverage?
After registering your CarePAK PLUS to expedite service or verify coverage, call our Customer Care Center at 1-800-OK-CANON (1-800-652-2666). We'll confirm your CarePAK PLUS coverage and collect your hardware proof of purchase and help you arrange for a repair.

12. Can I transfer my CarePAK PLUS to another person or transfer it to a different product?
The original owner of the camera or lens may initiate a one-time transfer of ownership of the hardware covered by the CarePAK PLUS plan. The original owner will be required to provide a signed letter indicating their intent to transfer ownership of the covered hardware, their registration number, and a copy of their hardware sales receipt by faxing them to (800) 231-9243 or emailing them to Please refer to "Transferability" in the Terms and Conditions for complete details.

CarePAK PLUS plans cannot be transferred to a different product. The CarePAK PLUS plan is tied to the serial number of the original covered product, or replacement product, if applicable.
13. What if my Serial Number does not work to allow me to register my free CarePAK PLUS?
Customers will be directed to call us at 1-800-OK-CANON (1-800-652-2666) and we will verify their serial number.
