Joining the Canon Affiliate Program

1. What is the Canon Affiliate Publisher Program?
You become a valued business partner by joining the Canon Affiliate Publisher Program. Once you join, you can place links to our products and categories on your web site, giving your site visitors the opportunity to buy Canon products. When you direct a visitor from your web site to Canon's website via a Qualifying Link and they make a purchase, you earn a commission on the Net Sale (see Canon's Affiliate Publisher Program Agreement for details). The Canon Affiliate Program gives you the tools to add links to your site, as well as access to online reports to track your sales.
2. Why should I join the Canon Affiliate Publisher Program?
Earn commissions: Our standard commission is 2.5% of Net Sales on all product categories. Enhance your site by partnering with a brand name people trust. It's free and easy to join.
3. How do I sign up for Canon's Affiliate Publisher Program?
First, please read and accept our Affiliate Publisher Program Agreement. Then, complete the Commission Junction online publisher application form. After your application is submitted, we will contact you to let you know if you have been accepted as an affiliate publisher. We will also provide you with information on how to get started.
4. When can I get started?
Immediately. Just fill out the online registration form and you will be off and running. Approval usually takes two business days once you've completed your registration. We will first review and approve your application before you can participate in the Program. This approval usually takes two business days from the time you complete your application. Upon approval, you will be notified by Commission Junction of your username and password which you can then use to logon to Commission Junction and access our banners.
5. How do I know if my web site qualifies for the Canon Affiliate Publisher Program?
Any web site operator with one or more web sites may submit an application, and we review each and every potential affiliate publisher web site before it is approved. We do reserve the right to not select a site for membership or revoke a site's membership at any time, at our discretion if we determine your website is unsuitable for the Program for any reason, including, but not limited to, your inability to receive commission payments via direct deposit, or if it contains or links to objectionable material. Examples of objectionable material include: unlawful, harmful, threatening, harassing, defamatory, or obscene content, pornographic or sexually explicit materials, and discriminatory content. In addition, sites that violate our intellectual property rights or laws, including variations or misspellings of the "Canon" name, and related tags, will not be accepted. Please read the Canon Affiliate Publisher Program Agreement for more information.
6. Are non-U.S. residents allowed to participate in the Canon Affiliate Program?
Yes, you may become an affiliate publisher, however, Canon can ship only to U.S. customers that also have a U.S.-based billing address.
7. How old do I have to be to participate?
You must be at least 21 years of age.
8. Can I join before my Web site is "live"?
No. In order for us to approve your application, your Web site must be live at the time you apply.
9. What will it cost me to join the Program?
Nothing. There are no fees associated with taking part in the Program.

Setting Up Links

11. What types of links do you offer?
Currently, we offer a variety of text links and banners in various sizes which you can access on the Commission Junction website.
12. Can I bid on the Trademark name Canon?
You may bid on search terms from website search engines or other directory or referral services (i.e. Yahoo Search Marketing, Google, etc. (collectively "Search Engines") provided that your search terms, listing titles and descriptions and the content of your Website do not violate the copyright or any other rights of Canon or a third party, as determined by Canon, and you comply with the guidelines set forth in the Canon Affiliate Publisher Program Agreement, as may be modified by Canon from time to time.
13. Where should I place the Canon links on my site?
You should place Canon links where they're easy for your visitors to find, such as your site's home page, navigation bar, and any other high-traffic areas. By placing the links on easily accessed site locations, visitors will be more likely to make a purchase.
14. How are orders from my site tracked and credited?
All links from your site to ours include a unique ID. This ID helps us to identify customers coming from your site and to credit you if a Qualifying Link results in a Net Sale. It is essential that all links on your site be created using the exact HTML code the Commission Junction account manager provided you so that they are tracked correctly.

Payments & Reports

15. How much will I get paid for sales that originate from my site?
We will pay you a commission if a Qualifying Link during a Session results in a Net Sale (as defined in our Affiliate Agreement). The standard Canon commission is 3% of Net Sales. * Affiliates will receive direct deposit for commissions owed.
16. What if a visitor to my site clicks through to Canon, does not make a purchase, but returns to Canon later to make a purchase?
In this case if the visitor returns within 45 days of the date of the Cookie (defined below) and does not go through another affiliate publisher link you will get credit for the purchase. A "Cookie" is a small text file that you drop on a visitor's computer when the visitor clicks a link (consistent with your web site's Privacy Policy) and which is then stored on the visitor's hard drive showing that the visitor first visited your site. However, please note that purchases cannot be tracked in the event a visitor deletes a Cookie and, in such case, no payment shall result.
17. When will I be paid?
Commissions will be sent to you by Commission Junction via direct deposit to your designated account (less any taxes required to be withheld under applicable law) on or around the 20th day of each month. Commission payments will be made approximately 45 days after the month in which the commission was earned.
18. What about product returns?
If a customer returns a product for a refund, or if credit card charges are reversed due to a dispute or credit card fraud, your account will be debited for any commission earned on that transaction. If a product is returned in exchange for new merchandise, or if goods are lost or damaged and we ship replacement goods to the customer, your commissions will not be affected.
19. How can I keep track of how I am doing?
You can keep track of your site's performance in your Account Manager in the Commission Junction interface. You will have a unique username and password to access the site following the acceptance of your web site into the Canon program.
20. How often are reports updated?
Report data will be updated each day with data through the previous day.
